Leadership Transition Announced at St. Lawrence Seminary High School

St. Lawrence Seminary High School announced that Rector/ President, Fr. Zoy Garibay, OFM Cap., would conclude his service at the end of the 2025-2026 academic year. He accepted an offer to serve as Ministry Director for Capuchin Community Services in Milwaukee, which will begin following the end of the school year.

A Recap of Fr. Zoy Garibay's Time at SLS

Over his nine year tenure, Fr. Zoy has faithfully guided the St. Lawrence school community. Prior to his installation as Rector, he also served as Campus MinisterFr. Zoy Garibay Rector of SLS and Dorm Supervisor for two years. Under his leadership, the school has strengthened its academic and mentorship programs, deepened its spiritual life, and continued its longstanding tradition of excellence in Catholic education. His commitment to the SLS students and their families has left a lasting and positive impact.

“We are deeply grateful for Fr. Zoy’s leadership and service,” said Director of School, Dave Bartel. “His steady guidance and devotion to our mission have positioned the school well for continued growth and success. We wish him every blessing as he steps into this new chapter.”

In his address to the school, Fr. Zoy announced that Fr. Bill Hugo, O.F.M Cap., will assume the role of Rector following his departure.

Who is Fr. Bill Hugo?

Fr. Bill, a proud alumnus of St. Lawrence (Class of 1971) and native of Chilton, WI, brings with him a wealth of knowledge and administrative leadershipFr. Bill Hugo Rector of St. Lawrence Seminary High School experience with the Province. Having been a member of the Capuchin Order for over 50 years, Fr. Bill has spent most of his time as Formation Director, Vocation Director, Director of the Province’s Fraternal Collaboration Program, and most recently as the Provincial Vicar of the Midwest Capuchin Province of St. Joseph. His deep understanding of the school’s mission, combined with his broad leadership background and pastoral experience, uniquely prepares him to lead the institution into its next chapter.

What's Next?

This leadership transition has been thoughtfully planned to ensure continuity and stability as the school prepares for the 2026-2027 academic year. Over the past few months, Fr. Zoy and Fr. Bill worked closely together to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for the entire school community. We look forward to this bright future with Fr. Bill at the helm!
