Many families wonder, “Where does my son keep his money so it is safe and secure?” St. Lawrence Seminary provides a student bank for the safekeeping of our students’ money. In fact, it is a requirement of Seminary rules and policies that students keep no more than $10 in their possession at any time while on campus. If a student has more than $10 in their possession, the money should be deposited into their student bank account. The student bank is located in a secure and central location on our campus and is open at convenient times throughout the week. Students are able to deposit and withdraw cash from their account. No-fee check cashing is also available. In addition, students are able to purchase stamps at the bank. The student bank is staffed by a select group of students by the Rector. Student bankers are trained by the Seminary’s Business Manager and learn valuable office and people skills. Typically, a student banker continues as a student banker through his senior year. Each year, the senior banker acts as a supervisor to his fellow bankers and is a source of information for training and questions. The senior works with the Seminary Business Manager in scheduling and determination of shifts. The student bank maintains a record of all bank transactions for each student. All transactions are reconciled on a daily basis by an adult staff member for added security. |
