If the academic program is the “brain” and the spiritual life program is the “soul” and the athletic and activities programs are the “body” of the residential life environment, then it is not an exaggeration to say that the residential program is the “heart” of St. Lawrence. The Residency Program is a vital part of the overall program. It is in this area that St. Lawrence most differs from a typical high school. The purpose of this aspect of the school is to provide a safe environment in which the students can grow and develop in healthy ways. Dormitory supervisors and class advisors provide the adult presence and leadership that the students need. The residency program is a graduated program in which each class enjoys greater privileges, taking into consideration the natural development from the freshman to the senior years. In consultation with the Dean of Students and the Director of the Residency Program, each dormitory supervisor develops guidelines for the health, safety and good order of the students and their environment. |
