One of our most frequently used areas on campus is our dining room, the refectory, where our students come and eat their meals throughout the school year. The students are served breakfast, lunch, dinner and a morning snack in the Refectory. Depending on the day and the occasion, the meals are served either family style or cafeteria-style. Students are assigned to particular tables for all mandatory meals, and sit with their classmates for all school-day lunches. They sit with their fraternities for mandatory breakfast and dinner. On occasions where meals are optional, students are free to sit where they like. The Refectory is also the location where freshmen have their work crews. All freshmen are assigned to different areas of the dining hall, and their duties range from sweeping floors to helping serve the meals. Their duties are rotated quarterly by the dining room supervisor. This allows the freshmen to gain experience in the different tasks that need to be completed in order for the dining room to operate daily. |
