Because St. Lawrence Seminary High School partners with parents in the raising of our students, belongings that a student brings to St. Lawrence or that he has in his possession are subject to inspection by school authorities. Possessions that are dangerous or that are against the rules or the values of St. Lawrence will be confiscated and destroyed. Prohibited items include: alcoholic beverages, illicit drugs, tobacco products and pornographic materials. These materials include, but are not limited to, the following: any material (tapes, CDs, DVDs) which are marked with a “parental advisory” sticker; any inappropriate material (for example, pirated or “burned” CDs) that exploits human sexuality, depicts violence, or is vulgar or dehumanizing (including posters); all R rated videos and DVD’s (“M” rated video games must be approved by the Dean of Students); weapons or anything that can be considered a weapon (toy or real); candles, matches, lighters, incense burners, fireworks, and fire of any kind; laptop computers (except for seniors who must keep them in St. Francis Hall); handheld computers (unless special permission is granted); electronic communication devices (including pagers and cell phones); board, card, and video games contrary to the values of the school; microwave ovens, refrigerators, cooking appliances and heaters (except for rice cookers that are to be used in a designated areas only); laser pointers and similar devices; body building supplements, without the permission of the nurse; and chlorine bleach for laundry. Handheld game devices and console type game devices (Playstation, Playstation 2, X-Box, Game Cube, Nintendo Wii, etc.) are banned items for freshmen and sophomores. These games are available for their use in the game room. |
