Make a Difference Day provides an opportunity for students to join with other youth, adults and children from Fond du Lac County to clean up yards for the elderly in Fond du Lac. This occurs on the last Saturday of October. Make a Difference Day is a national celebration of service. "Most people pass leaf raking off as a tedious chore, but my school has turned it into an annual event to help those who can't rake their yards for themselves. The time I spend with my classmates while leaf raking is both memorable and fun—it’s a unique experience." Sam Crawford (’08). "I found Make a Difference Day to be a very good experience. It felt good to help people who may not have been able to do the work themselves." Nana Coleman (’10). "The experience made me feel like I was at home doing a simple labor that I am just expected to do." Tim Mills (’10). "Leaf raking was cold and windy. But even though it was cold, I knew that we were creating warmth in the heart of the resident we were helping. She took a picture with us, and I knew how much our help really meant to her." Jack Tierney (’09). |
