Upon observing an infraction of St. Lawrence Seminary rules, policy or social skills, the adult will:
- Ask the student to describe his inappropriate behavior.
- - Affirm him if he is able to describe the inappropriate behavior.
- - Guide him if he is unable to describe the inappropriate behavior.
- Ask the student to describe and/or demonstrate the appropriate behavior for the situation.
- - Teach and/or re-teach the appropriate behavior if necessary.
- - Discuss the rationale for the appropriate behavior.
- Assign consequences or indicate what the consequences will be if the behavior is repeated.
- End on a positive note.
If there is little time to instruct at the time of the infraction, the adult will, at a minimum:
- In a calm, firm tone of voice, ask the student to change his behavior.
- Ask the student to see you at another time for further instruction.
- At that further instruction time, go through the steps listed above.
