The office of Guidance and Counseling provides support and assistance to students in the areas of personal/social, academic and career decision-making.

Our Guidance Counselor administers standardized tests to help students assess their educational development as compared to their peers nationwide. Interpretation sessions are conducted each year in classes, followed by career exploration and planning activities using information from the test results.

  • Freshmen take the Iowa Tests of Educational Development.
  • Sophomores take the PLAN test.
  • Juniors take the PSAT.
  • Throughout the year, Seniors discuss relevant topics such as the college application process, financial aid and scholarships.

The Guidance and Counseling Office keeps students abreast of all timelines and due dates. Applications, transcripts and related paperwork are all processed through the guidance office. Every effort is made to help the students prepare themselves for a successful transition from high school to life after graduation.

ACT / SAT TESTS

Juniors begin the college application process by taking either the ACT and/or SAT tests.  About 90% of SLS students take the ACT, achieving an average composite score between 23 and 24, higher than the State of Wisconsin and national averages, and compares well with other similar private schools in Wisconsin.
