Theatre and drama at St. Lawrence Seminary offer many students the opportunity to be involved in musical or dramatic productions, either in major or secondary roles. In addition, there are many behind the scenes roles that need to be filled, such as stage crew, lighting, sound, set construction, costuming, props, chorus or pit orchestra.

Fifty to sixty students can become involved in the magic of live stage productions. Women’s roles are usually filled by staff members or local college students.

St. Lawrence generally alternates musical and straight dramatic productions every other year. The production weekend also includes a dinner theater for alumni.

In recent years, St. Lawrence has produced Damn Yankees, My Favorite Year, 1776, Arsenic and Old Lace, Big River, Of Thee I Sing and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, to name just a few. Both band and choir members play a significant role in the success of these musical productions.

Superb compliments on the productions continue well after the stage dust has settled and props are stored.
