Community Builder and Leader Awards

Guiding Growth

Recognizing outstanding citizenship and leadership is an important part of helping young men become community leaders when they leave St. Lawrence Seminary. Every member of the faculty and staff at St. Lawrence plays an important role in this process.

On a weekly basis faculty and staff turn in to the Dean of Students the names of students they have observed who show exemplary community building efforts. Every quarter the school holds a ceremony where Community Builders and Leaders are recognized. The criteria for these awards includes:

  1. Criteria for Community Builder Award (CBA):
    • a. Fulfills the profile of a St. Lawrence student
    • b. GPA for the quarter is 2.00 or greater and works to his potential
    • c. No more than two negative incident reports (none of which resulted in community service hours or detentions)
    • d. Positive and consistent effort to participate in the ministry program
    • e. Positive influence within the class and the school community
    • f. Meaningful and consistent involvement in the seminary program throughout the quarter
    • g. Approval of the Dean of Students, Academic Dean, and Rector
  2. Criteria for Community Leader Award (CLA)
    • a. Junior or Senior standing
    • b. Eligible for a Community Builder Award
    • c. Recognized as not only a participant, but also as a significant contributor or leader within the school community
