Benefactors

Saint Lawrence Seminary is really a miracle of God's people caring for one another. This miracle is renewed in young men living vocations of service and ministry. And this miracle is renewed in people near and far generously providing these young men the chance to live and study and grow in faith at Saint Lawrence Seminary. No young man has ever been turned away because his parents could not afford the tuition. This century and a half old tradition has blessed many young lives and been a blessing to the Church — and this tradition rests on the charity and prayers of benefactors, donors and friends.

Since 1860 the Capuchins have trained and educated young men at Mount Calvary. And since the very beginning, the Capuchins have been blessed with generous and loyal benefactors underwriting and supporting this ministry to the young.

Today it costs more than $24,000 per student for a year's tuition, room and board. While annual tuition, room and board, remains less than $8,500 per year, the average seminarian's family is only able to cover roughly half of that amount. Saint Lawrence Seminary could not continue its ministry without the substantial and faith-inspired generosity of individuals around the country.

Another century old tradition at SLS is prayer—especially praying each and every day for the benefactors. Every seminarian from their very first day forward prays for our benefactors—those women and men of inspiring faith, motivated by great hope in the future of our Church and giving freely out of abounding Christian charity.

Every seminarian remembers the benefactors in morning and evening prayer each day and in every Eucharist celebrated at the Seminary because you have given them a gift beyond price and beyond compare—the gift of their four years at Saint Lawrence Seminary. It is a gift for which they will be forever grateful.
