Basketball is a winter sport, played from November through February. The seminary has three teams: varsity, junior varsity and freshmen. Students in any grade are eligible for the varsity level. Freshmen, sophomores and juniors may compete on the junior varsity team. And the freshmen team is open only to members of that class.

As with all athletic teams on campus, the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams can be found daily practicing in the gymnasium. Games are played regularly. A full schedule of games keeps the coaches and players busy during the winter months. Most of the schools we compete with are within an hour’s drive from our campus. Home games are always well attended, and St. Lawrence students have a long tradition of being lively fans. During home games, the “Canteen Crew” sponsors half-time entertainment and will often bring out the “Hilltopper” to lead some cheers and even a “wave” for all in attendance.

"We had a special needs student that has been our manager all throughout HS and for our last game of the season, our Troy suited up to get some playing time.  Your coach and players showed that SLS is truly a class act by allowing Troy to take some shots (he made 2 of 3) and play to his level.  Lesser schools could have taken advantage of the situation, but your coach and players gave our student athlete a chance to contribute to his team...a great lesson to my students/fans."    S. Stein, a Lomira teacher
